Watch our video about the power of progress to increase positivity and engagement in yourself and your teams.
Today I would like to talk about one of THE key ingredients for positivity and engagement.
But before I provide that key ingredient, let me ask you a couple of questions.
- Imagine you’ve been working really hard the entire day, and at the end of the day, you have the impression that you haven’t made any progress. How do you feel?
- Think about a situation where for the last times results have been stagnating or even deteriorating for quite some time: how does it make you feel?
- Remember a situation where you felt completely stuck: what happened to your motivation?
- Consider a situation where you are just convinced that things will never become better: what will happen with your positivity? What will happen with your engagement?
Now take exactly the opposite situation. Take a situation where you have the impression to have accomplished a lot, a situation where you feel and you notice that results are becoming better and better, a situation where you just know that things will improve even further on. What is then happening on your positivity and your engagement?
And that’s the power of progress. When people realize that they have been making progress or when people realize that it is possible to make progress ahead, they feel much more positive, they feel much more engaged, much more motivated.
Now, as a leader, leverage that power for yourself and for your teams. There are so many things you can do. Show the progress that has been made, point it out! Talk to them about all the progress that is possible out there and how to go about it. Clarify that even small progress is still progress. Try it out and notice the impact on the positivity and the engagement of yourself and of your team.
Good luck with it!
